Wow, what a busy wee time we have had lately, with the Disco, Father’s day Brekkie, Tongan Language Week, Kim’s farewell, and now the Katikati Arts Festival.
Thanks for those who could make it to our Kimmy’s farewell, she will be sadly missed. However we should all be excited for her as she embarks on a new adventure in setting up a new childcare in her Omokoroa neighbourhood. Kim’s last day will be Thursday 12th October.
Sela has some big shoes to fill as she takes on Kim’s position. Sela came to us as a student twice and then her daughter Fane came too. We have loved having her as one of our relievers since then, and she helped with Tongan language week. We are looking forward to having her as part of our team.
We are honoured to have Victoria, a student from Tertiary College with us for 4 weeks. She is in her third year of teacher training, ready to learn all she can from us.
Graduates day on Thursday 12 October
This a day when we invite all the children who have gone to school over the past several terms to come back for a morning. We celebrate their learning and transition by inviting them to share about their school experiences. This is a special day for both the school children, and their old friends here. Of course teachers love to see our friends come back.
Diwali Celebration
Come join us for a shared lunch Friday 20th October to celebrate the Indian festival of Lights. This festival signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Its celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed.
Grandparent’s Days
Each year we love to invite your children’s grandparents to come to kindy and play with them. Lots of warm fuzzies as we celebrate this special love between a child and their grandparents. Invites will be sent out by your children shortly. To ensure most children can attend we have 2 days set aside—Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16 November.
Christmas Bible Verse: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Group Photo
We will be taking a group photo on Thursday 26th October at 9am. They will be available to purchase. You are invited to bring your child in at this time if they do not attend on a Thursday. Please put this date on your calendar so you don’t miss out.
Sunhats, Sunhats, Sunhats and Sunblock!!
Yes, it’s that time of year! Please provide a named sunhat for your child; a wide brim is better. We have a rule for Term 1 and 4... No hat, no outside play. Sounds harsh but it’s the sun that is harsh on the young skin of our children. For those new to our summer routines, please sun block your children at home and we will re-apply after lunch with our natural sunblock.
Christmas Parade
We will be entering another float in the Katikati Christmas Parade on Saturday 2th December. It’s a great experience and an opportunity to share some Christmas love. All offers of help greatly appreciated.
Abacus Calendars
This year the children can use their own artwork which we will be doing with them or you can supply a photo. We will provide more info soon.
