What’s happening AT Pukeko Corner?
We know that you have had some wonderful holiday adventures as we are hearing about it all the time. The kete idea was a great success, such a fantastic way to share a little of your holiday experience with us. Check out the Whanau wall to see what we all got up too. Great to see children identifying similar experiences which is sparking great conversation .
All the holiday talk has ignited interests in bugs and creepy crawlies, the beach and all that goes with that experience. Lots of water, sand and mud play. Imaginations have been flying with hospital and doctor play with children creating all sorts of illness’ and injuries.
To continue the holiday feeling we have a Whanau Beach Day planned for the 22nd of Feb at Anzac Cove. Bring along your picnic, beach gear and celebrate summer and friends with us from 10am.
Lexham Park
We are off to Lexham Park, our local rest home, on Thursday 13th Feb to share our love and friendship. We are leaving here at 10am. If your child is not enrolled for that day you are welcome to join us. This year we are visiting once a month and looking at alternative Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Tadpoles
Have you seen our tadpoles? It’s great for the children to see them grow and develop an understanding of life cycles. Anyone with a pond or an aquarium who would like some tadpoles? Kim is selling them for 3 for $1 or 8 for $2, the money raised will go towards new some equipment for Kindy.
Tykes on Trikes
We are off again to join in on the fun at Tykes on Trikes on Tuesday 18th Feb at Moore Park. So bring along your child’s bike, trike or scooter and of course helmet. (They will be couriered down to the park by trailor) Leaving here about 9.45am and back 11.30. All are welcome!!
New Shade
Our new shade is in the process of going up, just waiting on the cloth.
Teachers Professional Development
For the next 6months we as a teaching team are
participating in a series of workshops on Literacy, which is being offered by Ministry of Education. We will be reviewing what we do now, what we can do better, doing self reflections. The lecturer will also visit to make
suggestions. We will put up our research question on a wall soon and look forward to sharing our learning
journey with you. Feedback would be appreciated.
Marae Visit
We are planning a bus trip to our local marae, Te
Rereatukahia on the Thursday 6th of March. At the moment we are learning about Maori tikanga (culture) and waiata to prepare ourselves. All are welcome to enjoy this very rich and important part of our community.
Important Dates:
Lexham Park: Thurs 13th Feb, Tues 18th March, Thurs 17th April
Tykes on Bikes: Tues 18th Feb
Whanau Beach day: 22nd Feb
Marae Trip: 6th March
