What’s going on at the Corner???

We have been practising our birth of Jesus story.  Many children have grown extremely confident with the retelling of this wonderful event.

We are going to be angels for our Christmas float (please no wands), instead we will toss glitter while we parade.  If you have any angel costumes please let us know, if you have any spare angel costumes that other children could use on this day please let us know as well. (siblings welcome)

Planting

We planted flowering sweet pea out the front gate, and Di purchased and planted some beautiful flowers in bloom to add to our gardens.

Did you know that ‘kindergarten’, means ‘the children’s garden’?  We are going to transform our kindy into the ‘children’s garden’

Walks in our community

Hooray, Hooray for summer!! Once again we are beginning our walks in our community.  Last week we went to the Haiku for a bit of a run and splash.  We had a lovely picnic there, we explored the beach and sent Ochore the dog into the river plenty of times to retrieve sticks, stones and his ball.

Survey

A few weeks back, we put out a survey on “How we can meet your needs”.  We have had very positive feedback from these forms so far.  Our session for the day will remain 8.30 – 2.45 and then we will trial a 2.45 - 4.15pm mega fun club.  We used to do this when we first opened our doors, but over time parents did not need this service, however it seems that now some families could use additional hours.  If you are interested please, update your enrolment forms

 2 year old placements

We have been asked by families to give younger siblings-2 year olds a chance at enjoying our beautiful kindy.  Tamara (Cathy’s daughter), started with us and we were amazed at Tamara’s ability to transition.  We were equally amazed with our older children’s love, care, tenderness and friendship they bestowed upon Tamara.  It is with great pleasure that Addison also 2 years old has also begun her kindy learning, AND both Tamara and Addison have found each other already.

SLOW DOWN

Please slow down coming out of the driveway. There have been a few close calls with walking children on their way to school.

Sunblock

Please sunblock your child first thing in the morning and we will sunblock again after lunch.  We use a natural sunblock with no chemicals.

Diwali Celebrations

We celebrated Diwali, festival of the lights on Tuesday 13th Oct.  We ate lots of Indian food, Kim was dressed in a Sari, our Indian families came and shared a wonderful part of their culture and our children made lanterns to light their candles in.

Christmas Party

Our Pukeko Christmas party has a little bit of difference this year!!!  We are getting into the true Christmas spirit.  We will meet here at kindy Friday 21 December at 12pm for a shared Christmas lunch, and then…….  Walk to Lexham Park about 1.15pm to sing Christmas carols through the wards of Lexham Park, finishing in their lounge area to once again tell the story of Jesus Christ.  After this we will return to kindy to enable your children to give wonderfully made gifts to you.

Please note: If your child is enrolled for this day we will be experiencing the above agenda, but please be available to pick up as usual.

PLACES AVAILABLE

We have had many, many children leave for school this term already.  If you know of any families with children needing an awesome place to come, please recommend our wonderful place.

FRUIT

Thank you all for your fruit.  Please remind children not to take fruit out of the basket to eat on the way home.

Passion fruit house

Regyn, Addison and Gina put together our passion fruit house.  We went across the road and asked Geoff our neighbour if we could use some of his branches he’d cut from his trees and he said to help ourselves.   SO of course we did!! From this has sprung a really cool passion fruit house.  This space is used each and every day!  If you want somewhere to chill out for a moment, go and sit in the passion fruit house. We have masses of lovely wee fruit growth already

Carpentry

Thank you so much to the Carter whanau for bringing in some pallets for us to recycle and learn carpentry from.  We now have a very impressive looking dinosaur table and an equally impressive stove in the sandpit. All thanks to the children’s creativeness and persistence with tasks, and the Space magazine which generated our ideas.

A bit of a laugh

Jody loves birds, dead stuff and bugs

Kim so gentle, loving with hugs

Di keeps colour with planting her flowers

Corina runs constantly she’s on solar power

Grandpa is everything rolled up in one

Gina never thinks her song is sung

The truth of it all, you would be shocked…

You’d laugh and laugh and laugh and cough

………..cause………………

Jody enjoys things dried up and dead

Kim is ditsy with a true blonde head

Di plants new life, while intending them plucked

Gina remembers nothing and is always stuck!

Grandpa’s here, you're safe you think

Until you leave lunch dishes in the sink

Corina, well she’s perfect, never does anything wrong

Until she sings our birthday and our leaving song!!!

So here’s the truth in black and white

If you're still laughing you have the right

Your teachers are perfect just as they are

Each a point of a 6 pointed star
