Newsletter - October 2012
This term is usually extremely busy, we decide on our christmas float design, we practise our christmas play constantly and plant much of our summer crops.
Planting We have begun our planting for this season. We have replaced all the soil in the planter boxes. Kaylie and James Gordon have planted tomato, butterbeans, snow peas and cos lettuce. We are seeking anyone who has planted large sun flower seeds and flowering sweet pea. We are hoping to have these two plants for the front fence for colour.
Graduates Day During the last week of term 3, we celebrated graduation day, we had a small response to this due to a chicken pox outbreak at several primary schools. Graduation day is a day when past students return to share their school experiences with us!!
Photolife Your Your beautiful photos have arrived. They are $27.00 for the pack and $13.00 for the group photo. Please pay for them and take them home.
ORAL HEALTH The dental unit is once again at Katikati Primary School. If you need to see the dental nurse please visit them at the Primary School.
LOST PROPERTY We have a huge amount of lost property. Please claim your child’s property and take it home. Lost property can be found on the table outside.
SLOW DOWN Please slow down driving out of the driveway. There have been a few close calls with children on the path walking to school.
Sun hats Please ensure that your child/ren come to kindy with their own named sun hat. We encourage everyone to wear a sunhat during this term. The best hat protection is one with a wide brim. It is also handy to have a cord which can be tied under the chin.
Sunblock Please sunblock your child first thing in the morning and we will sunblock again after lunch. We use a natural sunblock with no chemicals.
PLACES AVAILABLE Due to several children leaving for school, we have places available for more new families. If you know of any families who are looking for a wonderful place for their children, please give them our details and invite them to come along and see the wonderful learning that happens in our kindergarten.
FRUIT Thank you all for bringing in fruit. Please remind children not to take fruit out of the basket to eat on the way home.
Baby watching We had a our final baby watching session with Pauline and Isla this morning (18 Oct). Thanks so much to Pauline for sharing her pregnancy with us, Isla’s very first important year and her many many milestones. We will miss Isla so much. Our baby watching benefits are noticed many times throughout our learning days.
Congratulations Grandpa Gary and Sandy have another lovely baby grand daughter. Their daughter Frankie in the South Island gave birth to a very healthy girl on Tuesday 16th October. Grandpa Gary is currently visiting this new arrival and will be back at kindy next week.Cathy is now an Aunty for the first time.
Mudpit Our mudpit has a lot more dirt in it now!! So rather than a mud pool, we now have a true pit to make mud cakes, mud pies and enjoy our natural ways.
Passion fruit house Addison and Gina have drawn up some plans to turn our passion fruit vine into a passionfruit house!! We will be putting up some bamboo or trellis from fence to fence and then train our passion fruit vine over the top of this.. Last year someone pulled all 300 fruit off our vines and threw them all down the road... this year we will try to train the vine over our side of the fence and reap some of our rewards!!
Help Does anyone have any trellis you are not using? This would come in handy for our many projects we have in mind. Also if you have any pallets you’re not using, we would like to increase our carpentry experiences by making our own planters and tables using recycled materials
Thank you
To everyone who came and helped make our birthday celebration a success.
Thanks to the teachers for all their tireless work over term 3!! It is so rewarding to be part of this amazing team.
Thanks to Jade for bringing her horse for our celebration
Thanks to Pauline for sharing Isla’s precious start in life
Thanks to the wonderful teachers who never seem to run out of passion, patience and peace.
A prayer for teachers and educators God the source of all our inspiration, help us to understand ourselves, our world and you; and grant to those who teach us and our children respect for others inventiveness and questioning, and for themselves commitment to truth
