Baking
Kim and the children are indeed expert bakers, they have produced some wonderful food together. Thank you to all the parents who shared some recipes also, they went down a treat. If you would like to come and cook/bake with the children and Kim, please feel welcomed. Our cook book will be on sale soon.
Oral health
We had Oral health week September 10-14. We learned much about how to keep our teeth and gums healthy. Children know what kinds of foods and drink are healthy options, they are able to feed back oral health information and really seemed to understand the importance of our learning.
Photo life
We had the pleasure of our class and individual photos last Friday (14 Sep). It was organised chaos, but rest assured that the photos that are produced by photo life are usually extremely beautiful. They should be arriving within the next two weeks. Please pay for your photos before you take them home.
Art exhibition
Our art exhibition was an incredible experience. The little blue art house looked absolutely wonderful. Our children did an amazing job producing all that magnificent art work.
We had many people asking if their pieces were for sale, we had a teacher who came over from Tauranga to seek inspiration for her own center, we had nurses from Waikato seeking information for their studies, we had another artist come to view and was astounded with the pieces also, the list goes on and on. We are applying to use the little blue art house each year as a ‘celebration to our learning’. We are also going to be in the Katikati Advertiser again as Chris the reporter was mesmerized!!! Watch out for this!!
Thank you so much all the parents who volunteered to man the art house throughout this week, it would not have been easy without you.
Graduates Day
During the last week of term we will be having our termly graduates day. This is a morning where children who have left for school return to kindy to share their experiences with us. In the past this has been a very successful tool for our 4 ½ year olds to help ease any daunting issues about going to school themselves.
Baby Watching
Our baby watching continues with Isla and Pauline. Isla is able to pull herself up on chairs and walk around them now. She is coming into her toddler stage, where explorations hath no boundaries. Our children are still very interested in Isla’s growing milestones. They ask Pauline many questions still. Usually we look for another belly to study at this time but our children are not yet ready to let “their baby”, and Pauline go yet.
Education Review Office (ERO)
We were visited by ERO recently. The aim of an ERO visit is to ensure that we as a kindergarten are healthy and professional in our practises and procedures. Basically they do a strip search of us and our practises, and help us look for new and current ways for improvement. It is with massive pride that we announce we flew through with flying colours, however we will be looking at a simpler strategic planning system, AND using our digital microscope more.... Congratulations to the wonderful teachers here on your review.
Our official review will arrive soon, this document will be displayed and available to any one who wants to read it.
So...... that’s a small peak of what we have been doing here in the past several weeks... BUSY BUSY BEES WE ARE!!
Shake up
On the 26.09.12, at 9.26 we will be having a nation wide shake up for 3 mins!!, this means that we will all drop cover and hold together as a country. Please listen to your radio as a piercing alarm will be sounded it will be this sound that signals the start of “shake up”.
Pukeko Corner turns 5
We will be having the biggest 5th birthday celebration on the 5th October. We plan on having bouncy castles, games, treasure hunts, apple on a string and other fun activities. We will invite back our first set of enrolled children as special guests, who are around 8 -9 years old now! And we especially invite you all as honoured guests. Please bring a plate to share and expect a bunch of fun to end our term.
Lost property
We have a lot of lost property from this term. Lost property is usually displayed on the outside table for your collection but sometimes it is in the clear container... please go through this quickly as we never carry over lost property to the next term. We usually include these items in our own clothes draw for children to use or we donate them to the Op Shop.
Purchases
We had to replace our dishwasher recently.
Exiting our driveway
Please exit our driveway extremely slowly. Usually school children are walking home at about the same time we are leaving our building, there have been a few close calls. PLEASE exit slowing, carefully and with caution.
Enrolment places
We still have a few places available for next term. If you would like to increase your days, or know of a family looking for quality education for their children please let us know. Thanks to you all for spreading our good name around our community, we sincerely appreciate it.
Thank You
Thank you all for your fruit. Please remind children not to take fruit out of the basket to eat on the way home.
Thanks again to everyone who helped us this term. Shari, Ange, Jenna, Deborah, Gary, Sandy and Alana, thank you so much for the time you spent supporting the children in their art exhibition manning the “Little Blue House”.
An extra special thank you to Jody who spent many extra hours enthusiastically organising, setting up and making sure everything ran smoothly for the exhibition. What a blessing you are Jody.
Thanks to the wonderful teachers who never seem to run out of passion, patience and peace.
The biggest thanks goes to our Lord who has brought us all together.
