What’s going on at the Corner???

It seems dinosaurs are the beginning of a big focus.  If you have any ideas to share about dinosaurs please bring your knowledge to us here.  We have brought in several books the children are enjoying and our environment is once again changing to include this interest.

Health promotion

We are again promoting healthy eating.  It is awesome to see many of our children bringing healthy food to eat at kindy.  A sandwich, some fruit, healthy crackers and water only is the way to encourage life long healthy choices.

Visiting honesty boxes is a cheap and fresh way to pick up lovely fruit.

Oral health

Oral health and hygiene is always an on-going concern for us here at kindy.  We have had several reports from parents who have had oral health concerns. SO....  it is with great pleasure that we are offering a Oral health workshop, here at your very own kindy on Monday 2 April at 3.30, please come along and support us in helping you!

Lexham park

Once again our visit to Lexham park was received with much enthusiasm from the residence and our children.  It was and is a beautiful sight to behold.  If you are interested in coming along with us to some of our outdoor excursions please just let us know!

Sun Smart

Believe it or not, the sun still does shine.  We are maintaining our sun smart practises.  Please bring a wide brimmed hat to kindy as they are the best protection for your child.  A drawstring underneath is also advisable as it prevents their hats from being blown off and lost to the land of ‘I lost my hat’.

Grand parents day

We are having grand parents day on March 21st (Wed), and 22nd (Thurs).  In the past this has been a very popular event.  We share a morning tea together, and your children have fun showing off all their friends, their learning and their kindergarten.

Gun licensing

Yes you read this correctly!!.  Many children have been practising their hunting skills here at kindy.  They hide behind the grass scrub and shoot at ducks, wild pigs, deer etc.  This however poses the problem of ‘guns in schools’.  We would like to propose a gun licensing system (just like in the real world).  We are ringing the police, the gun licensing agency and hunters club to ask their professional opinion of this. BUT, we also need your feed back with this as well.

Duck shooting season is almost upon us! Do we encourage the children of families who hunt!.  PLEASE FEED BACK TO US! We will update you as soon as.

New Animals

We have purchased new toy animals for the children to use in their play.  It is wonderful to see children behave like zoo keepers and carers for our beautiful animal planet.

School visits to Kati primary

Kim has the pleasure of school visits next term.  The fist school visit is in May.  If your child does not attend Fridays you are still welcome to join Kim and Gary for these visits.

Housekeeping

We have a huge amount of lost property for people to collect here at kindy.  Please collect these items as soon as possible.

We are looking for a cleaner to relieve our permanent cleaner when she is away, if you know anyone who may be interested see one of your teachers.

Bike day

We were set to go, the bikes were here, the trailer was loaded, the teachers and children were primed to show Bay of plenty sport’, our bike riding skills.  Jody was determined that a day of bike riding was happening today....  and.... then.... it......poured, and the event was cancelled!!!  No way says Jody,”we will have it here in our carpark”, and that’s exactly what happened.  NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING could have stopped us zooming around on our bikes.  We had a ball!!!

Beach day

Our beach day was cool!! Check out the photos on the wall!!, we have had requests to do it again!!.  This time we will check tide times, and maybe meet a little later in the day!!

Students

We have a new full time student.  Stacey is with us for 7 weeks, this is her last placement before she joins the world of everlasting laughter.  She will be offering many exciting new learning experiences for your children.  We can’t wait!!!

We also have  a few college students who will be joining us for a few hours on some mornings, this is to help them make decisions on their future careers.  The more teachers the merrier in the world of education!

Thank you

Thank you everybody for your support and warm wishes that Gina and her family received.  Our son once again chose to challenge the forces of gravity!,  He amputated a few fingers and crushed the rest with a petrol wood splitter.  After many hours of surgery, specialised care and leeches in Waikato hospital, he is recovering with all fingers accounted for.

He says the bonuses are cool!!!, free helicopter ride, spunky helicopter nurse, sleeping all day, experienced what morphine does, got to meet really brainy people (aside from his mother), got a new dvd player, new dvd’s ,don’t have to do any chores, parents at his beck and call, AND can now text fast as with left hand!!

When you see the positive side of any tragedy, you smile and know that the lord is truly blessing us.

Thank you once again, I am humbled beyond words, and thankful I live and raise my children within this caring community
