What’s going on at the Corner???

We are as usual encouraging you to help your children create a holiday poster with photos, to grace our learning adventure wall.  Your children are already filling us in on the many exciting adventures they experienced while spending special time with whanau and friends.

It seems that the kiwi spirit of fishing, camping, visiting the zoo and staying in exotic locations were popular holiday choices.

Last year we had planned a beach and fishing adventure of our own to reaffirm our beach experiences, unfortunately we were unable to carry it off due to tsunami warnings....  We have, however decided that we  could do it this year, in fact let’s do it on Saturday February 11!!!.  The teachers thought it would be fabulous to get together with our families and our kindergarten families to do a spot of fishing, swimming, boating and playing in the sand!!!

How does Anzac bay, at Bowen town sound?, meeting around 9am, and departing whenever  you feel like it.

Jody and Zsalea have made the notices already!! There are 5 displayed around our kindy and an individual one should be sent/coming home soon.

Kindy re-vamp

We have made some lovely fresh changes in our kindy.  You would have noticed our curriculum areas are changed around.  If you have any ideas to share with us about our space, please do not hesitate to tell us about them.

The outside area

On Monday your teachers visited a day care center in Waihi, to look at their brand new outside area.  We had some inspiring ideas to how we would like to see our outdoor area transformed.  A landscaper will be coming to kindergarten this week to listen to a few of our ideas and give us pricing.

We want to keep our outside area’s very natural looking.  Some ideas have been put to paper,  as soon as we have a solid idea, we will be able to share with you and have your input!!  This is our exciting year long adventure.

 Sun Smart

Our hot weather has finally arrived, and with it comes lots of water play.  Please ensure you have sun blocked your child first thing in the morning and we will sun block again after lunchtime.

It is essential that you provide a named wide brim hat for your child during the day.  Other hats such as caps do not offer enough protection from the sun.

Please ensure you have also packed enough sets of clothing and a bag that their wet clothes can go into.

Many children are bringing covered swim gear to kindy.  We are encouraging children to remember their swimming gear and a small towel to use afterwards.

Drink bottles are also essential this time of year.  Water is the only drinking option here at kindy.  Children love it!

Housekeeping

Please, please, ensure that you sign in at 8.30am and out at 2.45pm . In an effort to reduce lost property we are no longer having the lost property box and encouraging the children’s self-sufficiency by asking them to put their belongings in their lockers.

 Lexham Park visit

Our next visit to Lexham Park, Ederly Home and Hospital is set to happen on Monday 27th February.  Please  make sure your child’s profile book is here at kindy.  The children share all their learning with the residents when we visit.  It is  upsetting if they do not have their special book to share.

 Bike day

There are several bike for fun activities happening soon.    On Sunday February 19 at 3.30pm a family fun bike ride has been planned here in Kati Kati.  Details are on the poster by the notice board.

Tykes on Trikes is being held on February 23 Thursday, at Moore park.  We are considering attending this event.  A few of the finer details still need to be worked out.

Thank you

Thanks to the Freeman whanau for looking after our very much loved fish over the holidays.  We are thankful for your time, care and energy.

Thanks to Grandpa Gary who once again spent some of his holidays here at kindy, cleaning floors, carpets and reconstructing our resource cupboard.  We are always thankful for Grand pa Gary and the amazing things he does for us here in our special place.
