Newsletter-September

Our student Rachel who has been with us on Fridays, has now started a week long block course. Rachel is studying to become an early childhood teacher. Over this week Rachel will observe the children and their learning. If your child is being observed and documented by any students we will seek your permission to have it submitted as part of our students assignment learning.

We are also blessed to have our new teacher begin with us this week, Kim comes to us with a huge amount of teaching passion. She has been teaching for 25 years. She lives in Omokoroa, has 6 children and 7 grandchildren with another coming in November.

   Kim is a hotty nana!!!!!!

Please help welcome Kim into our kindergarten family.

You will find many of your children talking about Kim to you very soon.

Whats going on at the corner?

We are still in baby mode, and there are still many pregnancies all over the kindergarten. The children have been preparing for their births by making baby clothes on the sewing machine with Diane and lots of nappies are being changed as well. If you have any spare fabrics these would be appreciated.

Cathy is still growing her bundle, and when the children see her they are stunned with the size of Cathy's ever growing belly. But rest assured both Cathy and baby Bob are well.

We visited Lexham Park on Monday. We sang songs, danced and told stories. The children then went on to show their learning profile books to a lot of the residents. We are so proud of our children's confidence and pride they displayed. It is extremely heart warming to be part of such a beautiful occasion. Our relationship with Lexham Park strengthens each time. It is borne from honesty and trueness and survives with pureness.

We have been having a few wrestling matches at Kindergarten as well. There are rules of course, but overall the children show great stealth, integrity and respect for each other. They know that wrestling is kind of like hugging your opponent to the ground. A count of three is said, and the match resumes again. All opponents shake hands before and after a match. Children need to experience rough and tumble play, it builds a sense of challenge, physical durability and respect for each other and most love it!!

Recently children have been showing an interest in Ingredients on labels. We have looked at a few things such as lip gloss, insect repellent, cooking recipes, and talking about what's in medicine. Gina knows a few things about making lip gloss, insect repellent and rub on's, so we may find ourselves making a few things. Please keep any small lip gloss/cream container so we can pur our mixes into them. All natural products will be used.

Professional Development for Teachers

Professional development for teachers is imperative for the learning and teaching of both the teachers, your children and you as the children's first teachers.

Recently Diane attended a two day workshop about 'encouraging language development in an early childhood center'. Di is feeding into the teachers her recently gained knowledge. If you would also like to learn a little about what Di gained please ask her, she is more than willing to share information that will help you, your family and especially your kindy child to learn more easily.

Gina and Jody were fortunate to be invited to Bethlehem Tertiary Institute for some yummy food and to attend a few workshops. We are also feeding information back to our brilliant team about the information we gained in Mathematics, Robotics and how we can help our student teachers to become the best teachers they can be.
