Pukeko Corner Philosophy
- We believe that each child is unique and brings
an exclusive set of capabilities, knowledge
and culture to the Kindergarten.
- We believe that all children's holistic needs
will be met, through understanding, listening
and responding to individuals as capable learners.
- We believe that children learn best through
play and experience.
- We believe we need to work on creating a "community
of learners", a partnership with parents,
whanau, teachers and children; communicating
with openness and honesty to gain understanding
in order for all to reach full potential.
- We believe that the curriculum we offer must
be based on Te whaariki; providing a variety
of challenges and experiences based on children's
interests and strengths.
- We believe in the importance of creating a
positive, fun, safe and interactive environment,
where children and teachers learn alongside
each other, developing a passion for learning
and tools that prepare for life.
- We believe in the unique place of Maori as
tangata whenua and this is reflected within
our daily teaching practice and learning environment.
- We acknowledge and respect New Zealand as
a multicultural nation and will endeavour to
gain knowledge from our community and impart
that into our learning environment.
- We believe in the importance of planning and
reviewing of our service to ensure implementation
of our philosophy.
- We believe that ongoing professional development
and support is essential for teachers to grow
and reach their full potential as individuals,
educators and team members.
