About Pukeko Corner

Pukeko Corner was officially opened in Term 4 of 2007 and is a private kindergarten in Katikati.

Pukeko Corner has been a long-held vision for owner Cathy Knowslon (pictured at right), a qualified Early Childhood teacher.

Introduction to Supervisor/Owner Cathy Knowlson
"My parents moved to Katikati when I was 17, and although I didn't go to school here, I always came home during university holidays to work. I studied at Waikato University, gaining a Diploma in Teaching (ECE) and Bachelor in Education.
I have worked for 11 years in a variety of Early Childhood Centres, including 6 years in a private kindergarten in Auckland, with 4 of those years in a supervising position. Recently I have been working for the Wellington Community Childcare Association as a consultant providing management and teacher registration support."

Parent/Whanau Involvement
Parents, family and caregivers play an important role in our Kindergarten! To successfully meet the needs and develop a love for learning in children we need the support from parents/whanau.

A child learns holistically in the community that surrounds them, with family at the centre. We would like to work in partnership with parents and family in establishing learning outcomes and goals for your children.

This communication can happen at any time. You can make a time with teachers if you wish or we will be having evening meeting where your child's learning and development can be discussed.
